- Butternut Squash, also known in Australia and New Zealand as butternut pumpkin, is a type of winter squash. It has a sweet, nutty taste similar to that of a pumpkin, and can be used in pies instead of pumpkin. It has yellow skin and orange fleshy pulp. Butternuts are rich in beta-carotene and fiber.
- Acorn Squash, also called pepper squash or Des Moines squash, is a winter squash with distinctive longitudinal ridges and sweet, yellow-orange flesh. The most common acorn squash have a dark green, almost black skin, but can also be found in white or orange, or speckled with all three colors.
